Fifty-six years ago today, the NBA officially approved the relocation of Syracuse Nationals to Philadelphia and changed the team name to “Philadelphia 76ers”. Philadelphia billionaires Irv Kosloff and Ike Richman just bought the team in the spring of the same year. Nationals joined the league in 1949, and the team has entered the playoffs for 14 years.




On May 22, 1994, the Raptors, the new team name and badge of the Raptors, were announced in Toronto 25 years ago today. They also identified the new team badge. The Raptors officially entered the league in 1995-96, entered the playoffs for the first time in 1999-00 under Vince Carter, and reached the Eastern Finals for the first time in 2015-16 under Kyle Lowry and Demar Drosan.


Thirteen years ago today, the Dallas Mavericks narrowly beat the San Antonio Spurs in 119-111 overtime in the Western Playoffs Semi-Finals in the seventh World Series, reaching the Western Finals with a big score of 4-3. Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki made 11 of 20 shots in 50 minutes, 15 of 16 free throws, 37 points, 15 rebounds and three assists. Spurs star Tim Duncan made 12 of 24 shots in 50 minutes, 23 free throws and 17 free throws, 41 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks.

Ten years ago today, the Cleveland Cavaliers narrowly beat Orlando Magic 99-98 at home in the Eastern Playoffs Final II, chasing the series to a 1-1 draw. LeBron James, the Cavalier’s star, scored a three-point winner in the first second of the final arc header. He played 43 minutes, made 12 of 23 shots, made 10 free throws, and got 35 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. In that series, the Knight, who ranked first in the Eastern Conference in the regular season, lost 2-4 to the Magic.
